Live Joyfully
speak as if all will applaud you, love as if no one can hurt you
Dr. Doug Welpton, M.D.
I am Dr. Doug Welpton. I am a Board certified psychiatrist and therapist for individuals, couples, and families. For more than forty years through counseling and workshops I have helped people change their lives.
I graduated from Stanford University, Harvard Medical School, and the Boston Psychoanalytic Institute. I did my residency training in psychiatry at Harvard. I taught on the faculty of both Harvard and Tufts Medical Schools, where I became an Associate Clinical Professor. I trained in family therapy for two years at the National Institute of Mental Health. I did additional post graduate training in Imago Relationship Therapy with Harville Hendrix, in Codependence Counseling with Pia Mellody, and in Voice Dialog Therapy with Hal & Sidra Stone.
I began my private practice in 1968. I have counseled people for more than forty years with a high degree of success. Their problems have included anxiety, depression, attention deficit, marital conflicts, divorce, family problems, substance abuse, alcohol and drug addictions, and post traumatic stress disorders. I believe my success comes from caring about the people I help combined with my knowledge and experience in how to help.
I have published the book “Attract Love, Intimacy & Money” to help you, the reader, use the information and skills that have helped me in my own life. Having learned with help how to heal myself, I fulfill myself by counseling and helping others. My hope is to help you live the life you want, to live fully and joyfully, to love and be loved.
I charge on a fee-for-service basis explained under “Counseling.”
He is the most kind, patient and understanding doctor. I’ve always felt so comfortable with him and like he truly listens to what I have to say. It took a weight off my chest just from the first visit . I would recommend him to anyone who needs someone to talk too and understand their feelings. He is always available and gets back to you within a reasonable time especially seeing how busy he is . I am great full for what he has done for me and my husband. Thank you Doc !!!

I have been a patient of Dr. Welpton for about four years now and I can't thank him enough for what he's done for me, my career, and his guidance over the years. He truly goes above and beyond to get to know me not only as another patient but as a person too. He's like another family member who cheers with you after an accomplishment and lifts you up when it's a less favorable situation, without the repercussions. The way he listens and responds in a non-judgmental way, and the consistency of both, are unparalleled. A+ psychiatrist, professional, family man, and teammate. Dr. Welpton is the man! The relaxing instrumental music upon entering his home office/waiting area, little to no waiting after arrival, and his cozy office setting are icing on the cake.

Attract Love, Intimacy & Money
“This book is filled with stories that show you how to change your life. You stop feeling bad about yourself and work on accomplishing your goals and dreams. You replace your dysfunctional mindsets with functional ones. You begin by telling yourself: what other people think of you is not your business. On the other hand, what you think of yourself runs your life. As Henry Ford said: “If you think you can, you can. If you think you can’t, you can’t. Either way you’re right.”
